The things look freaked out by the kettle. I imagine them saying “Why is the kettle looking at us like that? I don’t think it has our best intentions in mind.” Then they give the kettle a hug, and everything is okay. Also, they make tea, which makes the kettle happy because that’s all it really wanted in the first place.”
