So this is embarrassing!
I was looking through my updates on Comic Rocket and something just did not add up. After reading through the list I realized that my numbering system leapt from comic 229 to 300 instead of 230! Arrrghhh! No wonder I can’t believe how man comics it’s been, I’ve actually drawn 71 fewer comics that I thought. 71 fewer comics! Going through to correct them is going to take a while and comics that celebrate whole numbers and such are going to be embarrassingly placed.
Oops! looks like the tea party celebrating 400 comics is a little further away than I thought! Also, aaaaarrrrgggghhhh! That’s just the kind of fiddly correction that takes forever and is annoying. Ah well, I fixed one of the pages thus far!
New comics will be numbered according to the incorrect number until I can catch up with myself.
The Creator is allowed to delete numbers.
Maths just got a whole lot stranger!
Could you not leave the numbers the way they are, and fill the gap over time with guest art and things like that? My art teacher used to say, if you make a mistake don’t try to correct it, but turn it into a part of the piece of art.
I worry that that might break the voice of the story. The Things grow and change over time. Adding _70_ new comics in the middle would mean a big shift. It would also mean that the front page would not show my newest work for a long time!
I see that you already finished the renumbering, so all is well again. 🙂 You are right, it would be confusing to have such a big block of something completely different in between the other comics. By the way, even if you have actually drawn a few comics less than you thought, I admire it very much how you can over such a long time find the time and inspiration and share your art with us. Thank you!
Thanks Bille, one of the great joys of the Things has been how they’ve taught me to show up and attend to the work. For some reason it’s easier to turn up for them and push through creative blocks. I can’t believe it’s been years now. I remember at comic 20 thinking “Have I had all the ideas? How on earth am I going to get to my pledge of 60!”
