And here’s something nice from my favorite vulnerability speaking lady, Brene Brown

Thanks to donations and pledges made in the last days of the write-a-thon you will be seeing quite a few more things! When I write my full report over at lizargall.com I’ll let you know how many. Brain too tired for now.

I’m not sure how well this joke renders non-visually, but here’s an attempt!
The Things are in complete darkness, you can only see their eyes and their eyes are white lines on black. Slowly Thing 1’s eyes fill up with white, so it looks a bit more normal. Thing 2 still looks like an inverse drawing and is surprised. Eventually Thing 2’s eyes flip black and white coloring and look a bit more normal.
Thing 2: My eyes take a while to adjust to the light
BuNSOn Hoppydew – this comic is for you.
I’m exploring new iPad software called Procreate. It seems to be much more stable than Sketchbook, but – well as you can see it’s a struggle and it doesn’t seem to like exporting as a particularly high res image. Still, it’s a process and I’m happy to be learning. I’ve spent a whole day redrawing Things comics and trying to figure out line weights, so hopefully you’ll forgive me for not redrawing this one again.

Thing 1 & Thing 2: We have no arms and no legs
Bunson: I have legs
*Bunson wears sock on head; Things smile*
The app Procreate has been frustrating me. Frustrating me so much that I have returned to Sketchbook. Sketchbook may crash all the time, but it has lettering and it’s easy to scale & transform layers. Procreate is a very pretty application, but not quite right for for me.

Today’s comic was inspired by Emily Jiang. ’cause I said heeeeelp! Internets inspire me, and this is what happened.

My plan is to update every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but a little extra content never hurt anyone 😉
Here’s some Tuesday art for you. Developing a good way of drawing BuNSOn wasn’t automatic, and I’m sure his shape will continue to mature. Here are two pages of concept sketches as I honed in on BuNSOn’s look. There are many more pages – but I won’t make you endure all of them.
Someone asked me to write something for them. Something nice about someone else. My brain wanted to do all the things, and wanted to go down all the rabbit holes at once. So I let the Things write a letter for me. They’re much smarter than me and have a way of getting to the essence of things without worrying too much. it took a few goes to boil things down to their essence, but I got there.
And now I have written a second letter. This letter is for you and this letter is for me.
I started writing it, and then I started to worry – maybe they should be writing ‘dear people’ or ‘dear entities’ … I didn’t like the idea of anyone missing out. But I didn’t want to lose specific things and I wanted to keep an open space for writing more letters later. And most of us are storyteller/writers in one way or the other. If you relate to the struggle of ideas and articulating/thinking them – then you can most certainly be a writer (unless you don’t feel like having that label because you feel it draws attention away from labels you like better – like artist, poet, storyteller, philosopher, scientist, community builder or…).
